Snow
Jon Snow was among the cast of characters that got the raw end of the deal. He rode off into the snowy wastelands beyond The Wall, and that was that. However, it seems his story may live on in Snow (working title), a sequel series that Kit Harington is reportedly reprising his role for. However, it’s worth noting that the show hasn’t been greenlit yet, and it is still in the writing stage. According to George R. R. Martin, in an interview with BBC:
House of the Dragon (Season 2)
It appears House of the Dragon won’t be stopping at a single season; HBO announced on Twitter that House of the Dragon has been renewed for a second season. Since the first season hasn’t ended yet, it’s still up in the air as to who will make an appearance or which actors will reprise their roles.
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is based on Martin’s series of novellas dubbed “Tales of Dunk and Egg.” The novellas chronicle the adventures of Ser Duncan the Tall (or Dunk) and his squire “Egg” (Aegon V Targaryen in disguise). It’s Egg’s experience being Duncan’s squire that goes on to shape his attitude when he inevitably sits on the Iron Throne. The events that unfold in Martin’s novella series occur nearly 100 years before A Game of the Thrones but nearly 100 years after House of the Dragon.
Ten Thousand Ships
Set a whopping 1000 years before A Game of Thrones, Ten Thousand Ships will follow the Rhoynish Princess Nymeria of Ny Sar. For those who recognize that name, it was where Arya got the name for her direwolf. Nymeria and her people were duking it out with Valyria and their dragons, so she had her people board 10,000 ships and fled Essos. They would eventually reach Dorne and make allies with House Martell.
The Sea Snake
Speaking of House of the Dragon, for those that caught the first episode, do you remember Corlys Velaryon, husband to Rhaenys Targaryen, the Queen Who Never Was? He’s part of King Viserys’ small council and has some killer white dreads. Well, he’s known as the Sea Snake due to his skill as a seafarer. Corlys has been all over the world in what historians dub the “Nine Voyages,” which The Sea Snake series will cover.
Multiple Animated Series, Including The Golden Empire
More of Essos is explored in Martin’s A Game of Thrones, but not so much in the HBO series. Its lands are largely a mystery, though it’s home to many strange creatures. Most notably, the Golden Empire of Yi Ti lies to the east. Unlike the other series listed here, The Golden Empire is reportedly an animated series. According to Martin’s official page, Not A Blog: And that’s the last of the Game of Thrones spin-off shows in development. It’s an exciting time to be a Game of Thrones fan.
